Your tattoo has been done by a professional artist, in a sterile environment, with single use products. It is your responsibility to care for the tattoo once you leave the studio.
Leave the bandage on for 2-4 hours, once you take it off, wash the tattoo with soap that comes from a pump as bar soap can carry bacteria, using only your fingers and soap wash the tattoo and surrounding area. Pat dry the tattoo with a clean dry towel. Let the tattoo air dry for a minimum of 15 minutes before applying a very thin layer of CUREL non scented lotion
For two weeks after the tattoo do not use saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, do not go swimming, or have baths, or soak the tattoo
Do not shave over the area for two weeks after the tattoo is completely healed.
Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo for two weeks, this also includes tanning beds. After your tattoo is completely healed you should always put sunscreen on to keep them vibrant looking for years to come.
DO NOT USE Polysporne, Vaseline or any oil based products because the will dull the ink and your tattoo will not be as vibrant as it could have been.
Do Not rebandage your tattoo, if you must cover your tattoo for work, wear soft loose fitting clothing. Never put gauze, Band-Aids, ect on your tattoo. Doing so can cause the scab to form between the gauze layers, and when you pull it off the scab, along with the ink will be pulled off of your skin
Do Not wear pantyhose or tights for 2 weeks after your tattoo, as this is the same principle as gauze.
Proper care of your tattoo during healing will insure detail and colour
If you have any questions about the healing of your tattoo contact your tattoo artist, do not rely on the information from anyone else, but a professional tattoo artisit or your family doctor.
